I just finished a great project. A young (to me) couple with children had been in their house for around twenty years. The lady of the house engaged my services. She is an artist, a blog reader, and she has style. She and her husband had already done a fabulous kitchen renovation a couple of years ago, and now they were ready to update the rest of the rooms.
Budget was a concern, so I started by talking about what we could re-purpose and keep. All the major pieces of furniture had good bones, and the homeowners still liked them. So remodeling, re-upholstery, and some paint were the order of the day. The furniture layout was fine, with just some minor tweaking needed.
The dining room – The furniture had to remain. We just added new off-the-rack curtains and rods – The room was repainted and we chose to do the false ceiling with cove lighting. I installed a crockery unit (for dining area) cum show case for living area to an opposite wall and I also upholstered the existing dining chairs with flowery printed fabric. It added an extra element in the design.
An antique style chandelier was changed out with the old fixture in the living area. The new sofas had been added with a vibrant blue color and a grey greenish paint on the opposite wall to complement the furniture in the room.
Another focal point was the bar unit. It serve two purposes, one (It is a bar unit and secondly it works as a partition from the entrance towards the seating area.
We used fluted glass with SS frame for giving it a contemporary look.
